it’s been a while
pg’s been asking me how come i haven’t posted anything in ages… so here i go. nothing meaningful. in fact this post is downright puerile.
it started with a message from asif, with an ode to potty. a dumb question, but read the winning answer. personally, i read on the job. it explains why i spend three hours while i’m at it.
which reminded me of a bong poem taught to me by partho. i can’t find it anywhere, but it starts “maashi o maashi, pacha hashi”, and goes on to describe the aunty, an umbrella, an elephant and a mushroom. funny stuff. and both of us were solid drunk.
and then there was this japanese rhyme about a frog. as a fresher, i was asked to memorize, sing, and act it out. i still remember the words
kaeru no uta ga
kikoete kuru yo
gwa gwa gwa gwa
gero gero gero gero
gwa gwa gwa
get the pronunciation guide here, and a sound clip here.
yes… deep stuff.
i’m legit, now
this is what having a job does for you: it gets you a pan card. it’s been a few years that i’ve been working, and not really existing.
i finally got my pan card, yesterday… i finally have a form of id. enough of my explaining to people that i am a good citizen of this country, i just don’t have a license, or a voter’s id, or a ration card, or any other form of identification.
say hello to citizen aswpp1090p
getting jobbed…
i’ve been tied down. finally. i have a job… a real one. and i guess this time it’s going to be for a while. i have finally given up my self-employed ways. i’m still with plus minus zero, just not as much as before.
i now work at cyberclay. you wouldn’t have heard of it before… it’s a start-up web 2.0 company, but it’s due for many great things ahead if things go as planned. and as for my role there, i can’t really define it. but it’s interesting… more about cyberclay and me in the months to come.
and now, a job posting: we’re hiring people who know web 2.0 technologies. any/all of the following: php, javascript, mysql, ajax… and things like that. most importantly, you must be smart. and must realize there’s more to life than working in a place where they give you a badge to wear to work. i still don’t see how that’s a job incentive. contact me for specifics.
a new name, a new address
i bought myself a new domain… this one.
my name used to be ousep for a while after i was born… not for too long though. it got changed to joseph, and that set the ball rolling for more joseph pottenkulams in my family. i know three others, and i’m sure there are many more. i have been asked if i’m the joseph pottenkulam who…
- studied at alleppey [x]
- is studying in std 12 at cochin [x]
- got married recently [x]
- got married a while back [x]
- has a shrimp farming business [x]
- does handstands [x]
- died a few years ago [?]
- is slowly going bald [imagine tick here]
so, to sort out the whole identity crisis issue, i’m shifting my blog to this shiny new domain. so… even if nobody knows which ousep i am, they’d feel pretty stupid asking if i’m ousep from cochin. that’d be like asking someone if he’s raju from nepal.
for those who don’t know, which would be most of you… ousep (or ouseph) is the malayalam version of joseph. much like the italians have giuseppe, and the arabs have yusuf, and the czechs have jzoezsepzf. okay, so i made the last one up. plus, ousep was my callter-ego back in school. the name has served me well in the past, and it is mine again…
so, for both my regular readers, update your bookmarks. or learn the new spelling.
i’m sick of downtimes
my site’s been down for long periods at a time, visible from certain computers and not from others, keeps flip-flopping between a new and a week-old version. i moved on, bought some new space from a reliable (i hope) host.
so things will be missing from here… again. until i find that back-up i made. so keep reading this post, until then.
update: got all my posts and comments back up… but a whole lot of characters seem to look a little ugly… back to manual editing, i guess…
usurpation!
i’m a slighty reluctant about editing at wikipedia. up until now, my username was pottenkulam, and it identifies me too easily. but thanks to their usurpation policy, i’m now joseph.
i know. they both take you to the same page.
i know. big deal.
pondy is off
with people going to jail, et al, i have bigger issues at hand. my trip to bangalore, cochin and pondy is off… for a number of reasons. one being, it’s impossible to get any sort of travel, besides ridiculously expensive flights, from bangalore to cochin. my ass i’m paying 5 grand for a 45 minute flight.
and so.. all plans are off… all the people who got offended by my previous post may chuckle away…
and prabin, who kindly arranged the required hot chick, may keep her to himself. lucky prick.
pondy intro
i have to write another post now. people have been complaining that they’re getting nightmares from the sight of a happy pot-bellied, bewhiskered leon staring down at them.
no more of that, i say.
and to distract people from that ugly thought… here’s something on more pleasant lines. paul and i are planning a road-trip to pondicherry. new year, woo-hoo, and all that.anyone else has nothing to do/wants to get away from family or other boring situations, come by here. we have no clue what we’ll be doing there, but my good friend joe pondy assures me that there’ll be nothing to do, there might be some ?dj-party type thing?, and absolutely no scene for half-naked women.
as of now, dilshad is probably on as well. and the car’s big enough to seat four, at least. so here’s an open invitation… anyone wants to join us? to pre-qualify for the trip, you must not be any of the following: whiny; over-talkative; excessively hungry/crappy/pukey; boring; an ugly chick; a hot chick who doesn’t want to make out; leon from the previous post; anything else that may be objectionable.
i guess it’s going to be a fun trip. sign up by mailing me, or commenting here.
the schedule*:
- 29th dec… leave cochin
- 30th dec… reach pondy
- 31st dec… get drunk etc
- 1st jan… recover
- 2nd jan… leave pondy
*: published schedule is liable to change without prior notice at the discretion of travellers.
